Crown

A crown is an artificial restoration used for teeth that have been broken or may have been weakened by decay or a very large filling. Also after root filling on back teeth a crown is needed to protect what is left of the tooth.

Crowns can be made of:

  • Porcelain bonded to precious metal - (Most common)
  • Gold Alloy - Very hard Wearing
  • All ceramic crowns - Metal Free

At Enlighten the all ceramic crowns fitted are Lava crowns. Lava restorations contain absolutely no metal so you will see no dark lines where your tooth meets your gum.

Bridge

A bridge can be fitted to replace a missing tooth. This will involve preparation of the teeth on one side or sometimes when more than one tooth is missing both sides of the space. Bridges are only possible if you have enough strong teeth with good bone support.

Veneers

A veneer is used to cover the front of your tooth when an improvement is needed in shape/colour/alignment. It requires less removal of tooth substance than a crown.

Dentures

False teeth don’t have to look false. Cosmetic Dentures provide a more natural appearance.

Partial dentures

If only some teeth are missing and a bridge is not suitable, then a partial denture can be fitted. The partial denture can be made of plastic or a combination of metal and plastic. Again cosmetic partial dentures are available.
